Quilts for a Cause

Hen and Chicks Studio held our third annual Store Sample Sale in July! For the whole month we sold fully-finished quilts, table runners, holiday decor, and more to raise money. 50% of the profits made by this sale are going to the American Cancer Society to help support cancer research, and 50% will go to Chris Rhinehart as she fights her cancer battle.

The ResearcHERS campaign raises money to fuel the work of some of the most innovative women-led cancer research. Watch this video for more information about the ACS and this movement.

Chris Rhinehart has been a part of the Conrad community for the last 23 years. She is a 6-8th grade teacher at BCLUW middle school. Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 NETS (Neuroendocrine Tumors) in April 2019. The primary tumor was located in the small intestine and was removed in July 2019.  The tumors metastasized to her liver. Her Liver has numerous tumors all around it, therefore they can not be surgically removed. Although there currently is no cure for NETS, Chris has monthly infusions (every 28 days) that help stabilize the tumors on her liver. She has a wonderful NETS doctor at Mayo in Rochester that she sees often for scans /tests. The next step in Chris's journey would be the possibility of having a liver transplant.
