"Greetings everyone!
I'm Roseann from Rosebud's Cottage and I can't tell you how excited I am to be returning to my favorite store ... Hen and Chicks Studio. But I'm even more excited to show you how much fun it is to work with wool through my wool applique classes!
One of my first wool projects was when I was a 9 year old 4-H club member and we made a wool pincushion. I still have it and the record book, too! I raised sheep as a teenager and even though I wasn't that great at it, it sure was fun. When I was 17, I was a regional finalist in the Minnesota Make It Yourself With Wool Contest with my trendy wool cape. I love wool!

It wasn't until I was staying home with my kids that I discovered wool applique. What a magical day!! I loved the feel of it, how stitches could enhance the shapes, and best of all, that I didn't have to be really good at it. Wool absorbs the stitches and makes everyone's work look spectacular. The process of creating a project, from the selection of colors, to cutting the shapes, and watching the project develop is very fulfilling.
While I like cutting shapes by hand, I'm totally in love with die cutting wool shapes, too! In fact, all of my projects for the Creative Harvest Festival will be die cut for you so that you can get right to the fun of stitching. Die cutting is compression cutting ... I put wool on a die that has a pre-formed shape and crank it through the machine. Each shape comes out cut exactly right which is great for things that are hard to cut, like circles. Heidi and I talked about die cutting on her radio show -- check it out here. I'm a licensed designer for Sizzix, specifically designing shapes for wool applique. Heidi has my dies and the Big Shot Plus at Hen and Chicks so make sure you ask for a demo.
